Do you recognise these symptoms:
● very slow reading ?
● having poor reading comprehension ?
● reversing letters or words ?
● having untidy handwriting ?
● having difficulties with spelling ?
● having problems copying from the board ?
● hating mathematics ?
Reading and writing lie at the heart of most teaching at school and children that find these key skills difficult will often fall behind. Improved accuracy and speed in reading and writing will result in better academic performance. If you are concerned about reading and writing, then help is at hand.
The process of reading and writing involves a large number of skills that all need to be in place and working optimally for fast and accurate performance. Areas that should be considered include:
● Are the eyes able to follow the written line easily and smoothly ?
● Is it easier to see coloured print on a different background, rather than black on white ?
● Is the auditory processing in the brain working optimally ?
● Are there difficulties with the fine motor skills of the hands ?
● Do the two brain-halves work efficiently together ?
An area that is often overlooked is that when we read or write, we 'talk' to ourselves in our head. This process involves the same auditory processing areas in the brain that we use for listening. How the brain processes auditory information can be altered through structured training programmes, such as the SAS Auditory Activation Method. This can greatly improve accuracy and speed in reading and neatness in writing.
The five senses – hearing, vision, touch, smell and taste – plus our sense of balance and where our body is in the space around us (proprioception) all contribute to how we learn and develop. How the brain receives, filters, processes and interprets the signals from these senses determines how we perceive reality and how we react, behave and express ourselves. The SAS methods are specifically designed to strengthen sensory processing and improve inter-hemispheric synchronisation and communication. The structured training and coaching programmes improve speech & pronunciation, reading & writing, attention & understanding and lead to better behavioural, social and emotional expression.

Client Feedback - Reading & Writing
All clients are requested to complete a post programme questionnaire, evaluating progress in 27 different categories by indicating:
- Great Improvement = +100 score;
- Good Improvement = +67 score;
- Some Improvement = +33 score;
- No Change = 0 score;
- Deterioration = -100 score;
- Not Applicable = not scored.
The aggregated scores will be on a scale from "-100" (all Deteriorate) through "0" (average No Change) to "+100" (all Great Improvement). All positive scores indicate an improvement.
The average scores of the most relevant 10 categories are listed for clients with Dyslexia, highest score first. All 27 categories show positive (improvement) results.
