Do you recognise these symptoms:

●  having difficulties rolling over, sitting, standing or walking ?
●  finding it difficult to go up or down stairs ?
●  having problems with dressing ?
●  having slow or hesitant movements ?
●  falling over frequently ?
●  having an unusual pencil grip ?
●  having poor handwriting ?

Being able to play games, draw, write or do other ordinary day-to-day activities helps to build self-esteem and strengthen emotional well-being. If you are concerned about Dyspraxia then help is at hand.

Dyspraxia is considered an impairment of the organisation of movement. There is no known cause and it can affect people of all levels of intelligence. Research indicates that it is due to an immaturity in the development of the brain. Dyspraxia can affect three main areas: speech and language, fine motor control and whole body movement and coordination.
Dyspraxia can cause difficulties in controlling the speech organs leading to slow language development and problems with creating accurate speech sounds. It can also be implicated in difficulties with sequencing sounds.

When Dyspraxia affects fine motor control it can lead to difficulties in learning basic movement patterns with the hands, affecting handwriting and control of objects.

Often Dyspraxia also involves difficulties with gross motor control which will affect walking and running. Proprioception is often poor leading to bumping into objects and knocking things over.

The five senses – hearing, vision, touch, smell and taste – plus our sense of balance and where our body is in the space around us (proprioception) all contribute to how we learn and develop. How the brain receives, filters, processes and interprets the signals from these senses determines how we perceive reality and how we react, behave and express ourselves. The SAS methods are specifically designed to strengthen sensory processing and improve inter-hemispheric synchronisation and communication. The structured training and coaching programmes improve speech & pronunciation, reading & writing, attention & understanding and lead to better behavioural, social and emotional expression.
