The SAS Programmes
Assessments
An assessment is designed to uncover the underlying causes of any concern and involves the completion of an in-depth questionnaire, a range of tests and a personal consultation with one of our senior practitioners. You will have the opportunity to discuss any educational, developmental, behavioural or emotional concerns you may have and explore possible routes to improvement. You will receive a detailed explanation of our findings together with our recommendations of how to proceed. An assessment takes about one hour.
During the assessment we will conduct a number of diagnostic tests for those who are able to reliably complete the various procedures. For children under the age of six, that often are unable to complete these tests, we will make observations and use questionnaire information.
Tests included in the assessment:
- Minimum Hearing Level Test for the right and left ear separately;
- Hearing Balance Test;
- Frequency Discrimination Test for the right ear, left ear, and inter-hemispherically;
- Word Discrimination Test;
- Ear Dominance Test;
- Attention and Planning Test.
The tests are specifically designed to discover the possible underlying causes of the concerns raised and to provide guidance on how to design an effective remedial programme.
SAS Auditory Activation Programmes
To ensure maximum effectiveness Auditory Activation sessions are to be taken on a daily basis for one to two hours each day, normally Monday to Saturday. Initial programmes normally last two to three weeks, sometimes with a shorter follow-up programme some weeks later. Total duration of an initial programme is normally between 18 and 27 hours.
